Frey is Dropped
I wrote a blog about the book A Million Little Pieces by James Frey a while back. Well it turns out that his publisher dropped him. In my opinion it serves him right. According to the article on CNN.com he also wrote another book title My Friend Leonard and was signed to write two more books. However with the events reported by The Smoking Gun turned that deal upside down. As I expected the sales on A Million Little pieces continued to soar even after the lies were exposed. Surprisingly his second book was 5th on the hard cover non-fiction list.Overall this incident has, "rocked the U.S. publishing industry, stirring debate about the nature of memoirs and the importance of accuracy" as stated by CNN. I think that's an important lesson to be learned from the whole ordeal. Maybe it will teache writers they cannot turn fiction into fact at their own discretion simply to sell a book.
